Kirsten Dunst turns 1930s screen siren with old Hollywood glamour look
With her pencil thin eyebrows and vacant expression, Kirsten Dunst looks like a modern day Greta Garbo.
The actress posed for famed photographer Mario Testino in this highly stylised photoshoot, evoking old-fashioned Hollywood glamour.
Dunst, 27, takes a step away from her own quirky style and goes back to the Thirties to be this month's cover star for esteemed U.S. fashion magazine V.
She appears on the front of the publication in a slinky nude Dolce & Gabbana bustier top trimmed with black lace.
In another picture she does an over-the-shoulder topless pose, wearing a dramatic black feather head piece.
With the end of the Spider-Man franchise in its current formant, Dunst is now moving on to different projects.
Later this year her new flick All Good Things will get its release, where fans of the star will see here in an entirely new light.
Directed by Andrew Jarecki, Dunst will star alongside Canadian actor Ryan Gosling.
Set in the 1980s, story centers on the scion of a New York real estate dynasty (Gosling) who falls for a beautiful girl from the wrong side of the tracks (Dunst).
But the fairy tale ends when the girl disappears. As a down-and-out detective stumbles on info that may lead to the truth, the political stakes get higher and people close to the case end up dead.
Speaking about her role in the film, Dunst told V magazine: 'I know I’ll be seen in a very different light. This role is the most I can show of myself and I think it’s the best work I’ve ever done, for sure.'
Director Jarecki agrees, saying: 'In Hollywood the common wisdom is that you cast your male lead before your female because it's always the male who is the 'bankable' star and gets the movie financed.
'But I was so confident in Kirsten that we cast her first and her performance speaks for itself.
'She wasn't afraid of the hard stuff, of the emotional breakdown. People will see what Kirsten can do when she's not held back and its impressive.'
Kirsten, whose other memorable films include the 2006 fashion fantasy Marie Antoinette, also spoke of her hopes for the future.
She said: 'I’m ambitious. I want to do great work and work with great directors and do great movies and produce great films.
'I have criteria for myself that are probably too hard to ever meet, but I’m going to try. I think people who say they’re not ambitious and have gotten to a place of success are lying.'
