Intel demos MeeGo 1.0 on a smartphone, a TV, and netbooks (video)
We’ve recently seen some UI screenshots of MeeGo, and now it’s time to see the new open source OS on video.
Intel has showcased its version of MeeGo 1.0 in Beijing, on several devices: a netbook, a TV, a smartphone and even a digital coupon machine.
Reportedly, MeeGo is “designed to be very easy to use.” It features a simple UI, a quick launch bar, social networking integration, 3D gaming, and support for multiple languages.
Here’s MeeGo 1.0 on an Acer Aspire One netbook:
And here’s MeeGo 1.0 on several devices, including a Lenovo IdeaPad S10 netbook:
The smartphone you see in the video is based on an Intel Atom Moorestown chip and is made by Finnish company Aava Mobile. The device has previously appeared running Moblin 2.0.
Note that Nokia’s version of MeeGo is expected to be different than Intel’s.
Once again, we’re reminding you that the first commercially available MeeGo device will be out in the second half of 2010 – I’m curious to see if it will be launched by Nokia or by Intel.
