ABC cancels 'Scrubs,' 'Better Off Ted,' and 'FlashForward' & NBC renew Chuck, cancels Law & Order

Amidst a flurry of renewals tonight comes word from multiple sources that ABC has axed the Alyssa Milano-headlined freshman comedy Romantically Challenged. In less surprising news, the Alphabet net has also canceled Better Off Ted, Scrubs, and FlashForward. An ABC spokesperson had no comment.

It's (sorta) official: NBC renews 'Chuck'

Woo-to-the-hoo! As I predicted, NBC has indeed done the right thing and picked Chuck up for a 13-episode fourth season! A network rep declined to comment.

“Law & Order” Cancelled

The end of a television institution is among us: NBC has cancelled Law & Order after an almost record-setting 21 seasons on the air, Deadline.com confirmed on Thursday. The cast and crew of the NBC crime drama — that spawned three spinoffs Special Victims Unit, Criminal Intent, and the ill-fated Trial By Jury – were informed of the cancellation earlier today.

Law & Order premiered on September 13, 1990 and the upcoming season of Dick Wolf’s aging series would have yanked Gunsmoke’s record as the longest running television drama in history.

The season finale of Law & Order — which stars Sam Waterson, S. Epatha Merkerson, and Anthony Anderson — is scheduled to air Monday, May 24.

On a happier note, Law & Order: Los Angeles has been picked up for launch on NBC next season.

NBC will officially unveil its fall schedule on Sunday.
