Announced two weeks ago in India (and not yet available for purchase), the ultra-cheap Nokia X2 has received FCC’s approval to be used in the US. The phone is a GSM/EDGE-only device, and since it has quad-band connectivity, it can be used on any non-CDMA carrier in North America (AT&T, T-Mobile, Rogers, you name it).
Needless to say, the FCC approval is by no means guaranteeing an X2 launch in North America.
Nokia has made the X2 mainly for emerging markets. The phone’s features include a 2.2 inch QVGA display, S40 UI, stereo Bluetooth, 3.5mm headset jack, stereo FM radio, Opera Mini, MicroSD card support, and a 5MP fixed-focus camera with LED flash.
Nokia X2 will be first available in India, as soon as June. The phone will cost about €85 ($110)
