American magazine 'Fast Company' ranks Jay Chou as one of the 100 most creative people in business of the world
Taiwanese pop-idol Jay Chou is chosen as one of the 100 most creative people in business by American magazine “Fast Company”, ranking No 70 for his far-reaching success with his all-around performances in show business.
In its latest issue, the “Fast Company” credited Jay Chou, the cofounder of JVR Music, of reaching a great success in showing his talents of being a singer-songwriter, actor and movie director and restaurant owner.
“Once a behind-the-scenes guy who penned songs for other musicians and subsisted on instant ramen, Jay Chou has parlayed his wild success as a singer-songwriter -- he reportedly made $17.5 million last year -- into other ventures,” the magazine says.
Chou’s debut as a movie director, the 2007 film “Secret,” was an instant hit. When the film was released, he opened his second Mr. J restaurant in Taiwan, with servers wearing costumes from the film.
Last year, the 31-year-old launched a dessert shop filled with Chou memorabilia; directed his first television series; and made his first foray into Holly-wood, playing Kato in Michel Gondry's Green Hornet, set to release in December, it continued.
“Cool!” said Chou after learning the news. He said he has been focusing on holding a concerts tour recently. “It will be even cooler if I can make the tour a huge success,” he added.
Chou is well-known for composing all his own songs and songs for other singers with his genius combination of Chinese and Western music styles to produce songs that fuse R&B, rock and pop genres, covering issues such as domestic violence, war, and urbanization.
The No. 1 winner of the most creative people in business is iconic pop star Lady Gaga. Other winners include Avatar director James Cameron (No.9) and cook show chef Jamie Oliver (37).
