Google not in top 1000 websites
People were quick to point out that Facebook was the #1 website in Google’s list of the top 1000. That’s great, but where is Google in the list? They are either not as popular as we once thought, or they omitted themselves from the list. I’ll leave you to decide which one is more likely.
Google has no problem publishing website statistics for every popular website on the internet though their AdPlanner service — but they refuse to publish their own information for “competitive reasons”. Doesn’t this seem a bit shady to you? If you owned one of these websites, and you wanted to keep your web stats private for some reason, you’d be out of luck.
Google should put themselves on this list — I think it’s only fair that they allow people to view statistics about Google web properties through their own AdPlanner service if they are going to reveal everyone else’s information without asking.
