iPhone orders may come a day early June 23rd
For those of you that managed to get in an online iPhone pre-order (via the online Apple Store) on June 15th before the pre-order Armageddon, you have a bit of good news in your inbox. Our tips box is full of future iPhone 4 owners who report having an email from Apple stating:
You recently received a Shipment Notification email from Apple advising you that your iPhone has shipped.
This email is to confirm that your delivery will occur on June 23rd. Although Apple and FedEx tracking information may currently indicate a later date, you can check the FedEx website the morning of the June 23rd to track your package to your doorstep.
Sounds good to us. Besides, a few thousand people activating a day early can’t hurt the chances of AT&T’s system actually staying up for the day. If your new iPhone does show up on the 23rd, as opposed to the 24th, make sure to send us a note and let us know what you think of the new device.
iPhone 4 Already On Delivery Trucks? Might Some Even See It Today?
As you may have read last night, Apple started emailing people who pre-ordered the iPhone 4 to let them know that it may arrive a day early. While the rest of us have to wait for June 24, those who opted to get the device delivered, should get it as soon as tomorrow, the email says. But actually, if FedEx’s tracking system is correct (and that may be a big “if”), some people may actually get the iPhone 4 today.
As you can see in the screenshot, FedEx is alerting some customers that the iPhone 4 is “On FedEx vehicle for delivery.” In this particular instance, this is an iPhone that has been sitting in Oakland for a day, so it’s not clear why it would be on a FedEx truck unless they were actually delivering it. Others on Twitter are seeing the same thing.
Also a bit odd is that the estimated delivery time in the example below still says June 24. Unless the FedEx truck is going to circle for the next two days, something is up.
