Ming Dao and Cheryl Yang return with new looks for their next drama

As reported earlier, Ming Dao will soon be making his return on SETTV in the new idol drama Zhong Wu Yen (鍾無艷). The actor has been hitting the gym and even dying his hair blond in preparation for his new role.

It’s too early to say how the new and improved Ming Dao will fair, but the production team thought his new ‘do was a little on the ugly side. Much to their surprise, SETTV’s Vice GM Su Li-Mei (蘇麗媚) thinks it is just perfect, “I love his hair to death! His character is really hateable, and low level!” She plans to get him highlights in red or silver for extra sleaziness…

As for the leading lady, Cheryl Yang won’t be reprising her glamorous image in My Queen. It’s only fitting that the title character Zhong Wu Yen would wear little to no make up, along with a huge birthmark on her face. At a recent reading, Ming Dao chatted with his new costar as they tried to get familiar with each other. It will be his second time working with Cheryl Yang after Angel Lover in 2006.

Interestingly, Ming Dao has been working closely with Su Li-Mei since his debut. She described him as “a child from the food market. He hasn’t change, and won’t change himself because of money.” However, she also felt his acting is not quite up to par despite his experience in the mainland, “The roles that he played in the mainland, his acting was too ‘slick’. He has gotten rid of it this time around, and took (his acting) to the next level.”
