Hong Kong celebrity couple Nicholas Tse and Cecilia Cheung's son Lucas has been offered HK$8 million (S$1.4 million) by director Derek Tung on Tuesday to star in his film, reported Chinese media.
"If Lucas is willing to shoot a film, I am willing to give him double of what Nicholas Tse is getting," said Tung, who also promised to shoot the film entirely in Hong Kong and without any dangerous action sequences to set Cheung's mind at ease.
HK$8 million is a figure usually reserved for A-listers like Japanese star Takeshi Kaneshiro and Hong Kong singer-actress Sammi Cheng.
Instead of being green with envy, the elder Tse is brimming with pride that his son has been offered so much.
"My son's acting fees are higher than mine? Why wouldn't I be happy? Which parent wouldn't want their children to surpass them?" Tse told reporters at a promotional event for his upcoming film "New Shaolin Temple" in Shanghai.
Tse added that Lucas, who will only turn three in October, had a strong affinity with the camera so he would not rule out letting him join the entertainment industry.
"Maybe he is just born with it," explained Tse.
Lucas, who will be singing the theme song for Stephen Chow's animated feature "CJ7-2", his very first engagement in the industry, may be red hot at the moment, but he won't be going full on into showbiz just yet. Not if his dad has anything to say about it.
"As a father, I hope to give my son enough space, provide him with enough choices ... If he really wants to enter showbiz I will have him finish school first," he said.
Tse, who himself is the son of popular Hong Kong celebrities Patrick Tse and Deborah Lee, had been in the media spotlight ever since he was young, was previously against Lucas entering showbiz.
In April, Hong Kong media reported that the actor did not want his son to grow up the same way he did and once turned down a multi-million endorsement offer to have his son plug a brand of milk powder.
Lucas gave live imitation of MJ's first show dance, photos spreads quickly over the Internet
Recently, there was an online hit showing photos and video clips of Lucas dancing to Michael Jackson's song . It showed photos of him dancing in a recording studio in Shanghai.
Lucas attended a festival with his mother Cecilia Cheung at a recording studio in Shanghai. Lucas was wearing a blue jumper and white trousers. When the music started , Lucas started to put his hands in his pockets resembling Grandpa (Patrick Tse Yin) and dad (Nicholas Tse) "Tse pocket" style and began to dance, although sometimes he had inconsistent hands and feet movements but still see signs in his imitation of MJ dance movements, but also imitate MJ heels, thigh action. However he showed the "half baked" at the end of his performance, (very cute) he has been accompanied by his mother (Cecilia Cheung) with laughter on the side watching. After the performance he rushed to hug his mother. Cecilia was happily smiling and hugging Lucas and asked him: "Are you Michael Jackson?" Lucas also bluntly said "Yes!"
