Rows over money and top billing, on-set catfights and screaming matches were all forgotten as the Sex And The City stars put on a glamorous and united front in New York last night.
But this was one night on which Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kirsin Davis would have wanted to make sure they didn't fall short of their co-stars on the red carpet.
At the premiere of their long-awaited sequel, the fashionistas put in a sensational effort, but there was no doubting SJP was the star of the show in a hot lemon Valentino number that she had quite clearly practised her twirls in.
It was certainly a louder outfit than that which graced the 2008 premiere in London's Leicester Square - remember that Alexander McQueen prom dress, which she teamed with a Philip Treacy hat?
And while the choice of premiere attire was deemed risky by fashion critics, Parker was applauded for her fashion bravery.
However, having apparently had a fake tan to brighten her skin against the gaudy dress, it remains to be seen what those in the know say about this year's attempt.
Speaking about her dress, the mother-of-three said: 'I cared about being presentable to that degree. I never want to embarrass my children or my family. It's always lovely to get to borrow a beautiful dress.'
But Parker, 45, wasn't the only one who fell short of premiere glory.
Kristin Davis, who plays Charlotte York-Goldenblatt in the film, opted to co-ordinate with her co-star in an equally bright dress - although she went for the slightly more flattering colour of hot pink.
With her hair piled neatly into a high bun, Davis, 45, looked sleek in the vintage Jean Desses gown, although many are likely to suggest she could have opted for something a bit more daring for the film's world premiere.
Cynthia Nixon, 44, went for safe, but boring, black in a long Carolina Herrera gown - perhaps paying homage to her 2008 outfit of a plunging dress, but failing to deliver the same effect.
And, sure to fan the flames of rumours of a rift between the four ladies, the prize for best dress of a truly bad bunch has to go to Kim Cattrall, 53, who looked elegant and sophisticated in a gold Naeem Khan dress.
But, while fans in New York may have been disappointed with the lack of fashion creativity displayed by the four actresses, nothing could compare them for the arrival of Liza Minnelli.
Minnelli, who has a guest role performing Beyonce's Single Ladies at a wedding in the film, appeared to have wrapped herself in rubbish bags prior to arriving at Radio City Music Hall.
While the fabric was undoubtedly unflattering, it was also incredibly sheer - meaning the 64-year-old's unattractive underwear was also on show.
However, either the 64-year-old singer was unaware of how see-through her outfit went under the photographers' glare, or she was proud of her decision to be 'fashion forward', as Minnelli laughed, smiled and spun round as she walked down the red carpet.
Leaving the full-length glamour to the leading ladies was their co-star, Brit actress Alice Eve, who plays a nanny called Erin in the sequel. Looking as prim as a nanny, she showed off her curves in a grey L'Wren Scott dress and ruby peep-toe heels.
Other stars at the highly-anticipated premiere were Ghost Whisperer star Jennifer Love Hewitt, Gossip Girl actress Jessica Szohr, Ugly Betty stars Vanessa Williams and Becki Newton, The City reality TV star Whitney Port and singer Ashanti.
Hollywood star Amanda Peet, who gave birth to her first child just five weeks, made her first red carpet appearance since becoming a mother.
Male eye candy came in the form of Jason Lewis, who plays Cattrall's character Samantha's on-off love interest, Carrie's husband Mr Big, aka John James Preston, played by Chris Noth.
While absent from the first film, John Corbett returned for the sequel to reprise his role as Carrie's ex Aidan Shaw, who she cheated on with Mr Big in Series 3 of the TV show.
He attended the premiere with long-term girlfriend, 10 actress Bo Derek.
After last night's screening, the cast and crew headed off to the Lincoln Center, for a Middle Eastern-themed after-party.
Sex And The City is due for release in UK cinemas on Friday 28 May.
