Kenny Chesney tops the 'Billboard' 200 album sales chart

Raise a tumbler of Hemingway’s Whiskey (or another congratulatory beverage of your choice) to Kenny Chesney, whose album of that name just landed atop the new Billboard 200 album sales chart. It sold a healthy 183,000 copies in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan. This is Chesney’s sixth trip to No. 1; as Billboard notes, Garth Brooks is the only country star to top the album chart more often, with eight No. 1s. Cheers to Chesney!Lil Wayne‘s I Am Not a Human Being made it to No. 2 with 110,000 copies sold. That’s a step down from the 176,000 his Rebirth debuted with earlier this year, and an even bigger one from the million-plus Tha Carter III managed for its 2008 bow — but bearing in mind that I Am Not a Human Being is a digital-only release thus far, this is actually a pretty great showing. The physical CD, scheduled to arrive next Tuesday, could boost sales further.
At No. 3, it’s last week’s chart-topper, the Zac Brown Band’s You Get What You Give, with 70,000 copies sold. Gucci Mane’s The Appeal: Georgia’s Most Wanted comes in at No. 4 after moving 60,000 units — substantially less than the 90,000 his previous album bowed with, but a higher chart position since this is a quieter week. No. 6 goes to Eric Clapton, whose Clapton shifted 47,000 discs.
