Sources confirm that the CW has decided not to pick up any more episodes of sophomore drama Life Unexpected.
So does this mean it's totally over? And what's the bad news on NBC's Parenthood?
Though there's been no official cancellation announcement by the CW, sadly, I'm told by insiders that the sweet little show (loved by many fans) just didn't pull in high enough ratings to warrant the back-nine order. Suffice to say, it would take a ratings-rebound miracle in order for LUX to come back next fall.
The official decision about a third season will be handed down in May, when the CW announces its new fall schedule.
Life Unexpected boss Liz Tigelaar took to her Facebook page with this message: "It's real, it's true, no back nine. But stranger things have happened when people are invested so keep watching. We have a GREAT season to show you and who knows!!!"
Star Emma Caulfield wrote via Twitter: "Yes kids, it's true. Thank you for all your support. It meant a lot to the entire cast and crew."
And as further proof that these people legitimately like each other, the LUX cast got together to group-blog this adorable entry last night for us. We're also expecting to talk to Liz this morning, so if you have any questions or messages for her or the cast, please post in our comments section or tweet me @kristindsantos.
As for that other heartwarming drama for which you may have a soft spot, NBC will not be airing Parenthood in the month of December—but the good news is, that was always the plan. Starting Dec. 7, NBC will push The Biggest Loser back an hour and air special holiday-themed episodes of Minute to Win It at 8:00.
An NBC source tells us that Parenthood will be back midseason—exact airdate TBD—and "not to worry." But with another quality show seemingly on the bubble, that may prove difficult for Parenthood fans.
Are you a fan of Life Unexpected and/or Parenthood? If so, sound off in the comments and make your voice heard.
