"Sex","Prince" Fall Behind Shrek at box office

Eh.

Sex and the City 2 and Jake Gyllenhaal's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time were the hot new couple at the weekend box office.

Except they weren't. All that hot, that is.

Sex and the City 2 did great for a romantic comedy, especially an R-rated romantic comedy that was called "bad" and any other number of disparaging things by critics. Its estimated $32.1 million Friday-Sunday gross, however, did not look great next to its 2008 predecessor, which took in a phenomenal $57 million in the same three-day span.

Widely predicted to reign over the Memorial Day holiday, the Sarah Jessica Parker-and-friends franchise settled for second place, behind Shrek Forever After.

"With any sequel you want to see an increase in the number of fans," BoxOffice.com editor Phil Contrino said today, "and this obviously didn't happen here…It flatlined."

My oh Miley! Disney star struts around on stage in a VERY racy costume

Miley Cyrus is desperate to shed her wholesome Disney image - and she's certainly going about it the right way.

The Hannah Montana actress took to the stage at the Rock in Rio music festival in Lisbon, Portugal, today in a very daring outfit.

The 17-year-old put on a series of raunchy moves as she strutted around in a corset-style costume.

She topped off the revealling outfit with a studded leather jacket and towering peep-toe shoe boots.

HTC EVO 4G gets hacked Froyo port, Sense UI be damned

You know what happens when you give EVO 4Gs to a room full of some of the brightest developers the world has to offer? Well, [expletive] is going to go down, that's what -- so it comes as little surprise that the phone's already been blessed with a seemingly functional Froyo port, even though neither the phone nor the operation system have even seen a public release yet. The largest distribution of the EVO so far has come at the hands of Google itself, which provided the Android 2.1- and Sense-equipped handsets to attendees of its recent IO conference; a timely upgrade to Android 2.2 has unquestionably been a big sticking point for would-be buyers, though, so it's good to see that early owners are already hard at work making this happen. Root is naturally required for the 2.2 port to work -- and there will undoubtedly be some hurdles to overcome to make this totally usable -- but we have full faith in these lovely wunderkinds. Follow the break for video evidence of a Froyo'd EVO in the wild.

"Quit Facebook Day" Only Affects 2% of U.S. Users

Have you heard of "Quit Facebook Day?" If not, you're not alone. In response to the recent Facebook privacy issues, a batch of users founded this celebration of-sorts (not on Facebook, obviously) in hopes that thousands more would join their commitment to deactivate their Facebook accounts come May 31. Well, that's tomorrow, and according to a new batch of research from Vision Critical, "Quit Facebook Day" appears to be a bust.

It's unclear whether user apathy or Facebook's recent batch of privacy modifications is the root of the failed attempt. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled a new batch of simpler privacy options for Facebook in a press conference last week as well as alterations to the kind of information Facebook shares by default with entities that aren't a user's actual friend, amongst other changes.

A variety of institutions praised Facebook's new stance on privacy--users too. According to Vision Critical, 61 percent of 699 surveyed users said that they were happy with Facebook's response to the various privacy concerns surrounding its operations, although 81 percent maintain that they're still going to treat Facebook a little more carefully in regards to what information they use or share on its network.

Forgets to kneel for proposal, Selina drunk with laughing

Selina's lawyer boyfriend Richard Zhang addressed her by "wife" two nights ago, and then tactfully proposed to her. According to sources, he was subtle but encompassing, and sought advice from Hebe and Ella before requesting their management company to "relax" S.H.E's itinerary. Two days ago he implied that something important was going to happen to Mother Ren, and asked for her consent. But because he was too nervous, he was too occupied calling "wife" and forgot to finish off the traditional process, which includes a proposal on one knee. Selina kept bursting into laughter during the afterparty, "He secretly added whisky into the Coca Cola bottle, I could tell that he was drunk, and afterwards he said, 'I was too shocked'!"

Mother Ren also laughed, "I didn't know he would propose during the concert, I was played." But she also happily said, "He's very compassionate and caring, mature, and very talented. He's in a bit of a rush though, it's the right time for him to get married."

Lindsay Lohan Locks Herself Out Of Sex Toy Chest; Hides her alcohol monitoring bracelet under knee-high boots

La Lohan’s already proven she’s pretty good at losing uber-important documents, like her passport, but who knew the fallen A-lister was just as lackadiscal when it came to keeping track of her keys?

Linds was left embarrassed last week after she accidentially locked herself out of her “treasure chest” (Hint, Nude, Wink…) of adult goodies and had to call a locksmith to pop open the lid for her.

The National Enquirer’s Gossip Guy Mike Walker writes: “A young guy arrived and whipped out his huge…don’t get ahead of me, folks!… bolt cutters. But when he snipped through the lock, the trunk popped open – giving him a sneak peek at the red-faced star’s personal playthings. Lindsay told pals she was mortified, quickly slammed down the lid – then giggled and told the guy: ‘Diamonds are okay, but these are really a girl’s best friend…..’”

Britney Spears Twitter Record 5 Million Followers

Britney Spears crushes the competition on the charts and on Twitter.com – the pop princess has become the first person on the popular social networking site to garner more than 5 million followers.

The milestone comes less than a week after Brit surpassed Ashton Kutcher to become the web’s most popular Tweeter.

As of Saturday afternoon, Britney had 5,015,346 followers, with Ashton trailing at 4,982,734. In should be noted that Ashton does his own Tweeting, while Britney’s account is a mix of the star’s posts and ones from her team and management.

Britney also has nearly 800,000 followers more than Lady Gaga — pop’s current charttopping sensation.

Nokia N8's USB On-The-Go support demoed, lesser phones turned into slaves

Among the Nokia N8's neater tricks is its support for USB On-The-Go, which basically lets you connect USB peripherals (flash drives, for example) to the phone and have it act as a host -- a duty usually reserved for heavier-duty devices like PCs. Though the N8 is still a solid month or three away from release, we're getting a nice little video demo on YouTube today of an N8 being walked through the paces of connecting both a plain-vanilla USB drive and another Symbian-based Nokia candybar (brownie points for naming the model in comments, by the way). Basically, you can treat the connected hardware as mass storage and browse it just as you would the N8's internal space, which basically means you've got unlimited music capacity as long as you've got a pocket full of USB sticks and a micro USB-to-USB adapter cord. Follow the break for video.

"Very Affectionate" Brad, Angelina Hit the Beach With Pax and Maddox

Beach blanket bingo...with Brangelina!

Back in the states after months in Venice, Italy, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie kicked off the holiday weekend Saturday at a pal's private beach party in Malibu, Calif. Joining the couple for the shindig were two eldest sons Maddox, 8, and Pax, 6. (Zahara, 5, Shiloh, 4, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 22 months, stayed behind.)

Quaffing a margarita, Pitt, 46, chatted with pals on the beachside deck, with Jolie, 34, drinking white wine beside him.

"Brad was very affectionate," a witness tells UsMagazine.com. "He put his arm on Angie's wrist and was always rubbing her back or resting his hand on her shoulder."

Maddox and Pax, meanwhile, hit the surf on boogie boards. "Brad and Angelina were watching and pointing with big smiles on their faces," the observer says. "At one point, Pax was packing sand between his hands to make a ball and then throwing it as far as he could." The two buddies "liked trying to outdo one another."

Miley Cyrus Sings About Ex Nick Jonas: "Can't Let You Go"

Is Miley Cyrus over Nick Jonas or not?

JustJared reports that during a concert in Lisbon, Portugal on Saturday, the 17-year-old Cyrus played a song, "Full Circle," and explained its meaning:

"It's about two people," she said. "They're always gonna come back together no matter what anyone says or the bad people that try to keep you apart. Surprise surprise, it's about a Jonas brother...you didn't hear that."

The sad chorus goes: "I try to run but I keep on coming back full circle and I can’t jump the track, can't let you go."

Cyrus and Jonas, also 17, broke up at the end of 2007, and she told Seventeen in 2008 that she "bawled for a month straight" and dyed her hair black in the aftermath. In June of last year, following her breakup with Justin Gaston, she said that she and Jonas "definitely reconnected. We don't know what's going to happen in the future, but right now we're just kind of kicking it and hanging out as much as we can."

Germany celebrated its first win in the Eurovision Song Contest in nearly three decades Sunday with fireworks, street parties and a frenzied revelry normally reserved for World Cup soccer victories.

A teen-ager named Lena ended Germany's long losing streak in the popular European-wide song competition with an improbable triumph over 24 other finalists in a live program from Oslo watched by more than 100 million people across Europe.

A crowd of 45,000 people welcomed Lena at a homecoming celebration in her home town of Hanover Sunday evening while Chancellor Angela Merkel and other political leaders praised the straight-talking 19-year-old for her honesty and warmth.

Wonder Girls SoHee-YooBin, “Sorry that we did not treat new member HyeRim well enough”

WonderGirls SoHee and YooBin reveals their apologies to new member HyeRim.

The girls were recently present for the filming of MBC Yoo JaeSeok Kim WonHee Come To Play with the Super Junior (HeeChul, Lee Teuk, ShinDong, DongHae and KyuHyun) for a special episode of the show. The MCs then asked HyeRim, “When you first joined, it must be pretty awkward, who was the one who treat you the best?”

HyeRim then answered, “They all treat me very well, I can’t just pick one person.” With that the Super Junior members joked, “I guess there is none.” The MCs then asked the WonderGirls member, “Is there anyone who thinks ‘To be honest, I didn’t treat HyeRim well enough’?” And member SoHee and YooBin raised their hands.

No need for the body scanners! Megan Fox exposes her underwear at airport security

There was no need for body scanners as sexy actress Megan Fox went through airport security yesterday, seeming more than happy to expose her underwear as she arrived in LA.

With messy hair, baggy clothes, a make-up free face and reading glasses, the Transformers star was barely recognisable.

But the hot pink, lace bra that was revealed under her unbuttoned top gave a glimpse of the famous body which has seen her become one of the world's most popular celebrities.

Fox, who turned 24 last week, was pictured arriving at LAX airport before transferring to another flight to Hawaii.

Miley Cyrus in Billboard: I've Grown Up a Lot

In a Billboard cover story, Miley Cyrus sounds both mature and cocky.

First, she admits that she's come a long way since she auditioned for Hannah Montana at the age of 12:

"I'm just at a certain place where I've changed a lot as a person. I've grown up a lot, which everyone does."

That's certainly true, but not everyone talks about her music as if it's full of heart, soul and profound meaning that simply can't be found in the pop world. Check out how Cyrus describes her upcoming album:

Verizon Probably Not Getting the iPhone Next Week

Apple CEO Steve Jobs is widely expected to announce the next generation iPhone on June 7, and a well-known industry analyst is predicting that this device will be an AT&T exclusive at launch. Still, a version for Verizon might be coming later in the year.

"We believe that it is unlikely that the next generation iPhone will be available at Verizon (or Sprint) at launch; rather, it is more likely that it remains exclusively available at AT&T in the U.S. at launch," Gene Munster with Piper Jaffray wrote in a research note to investors.

S.H.E take on Taipei Arena; Selina's boyfriend: Wife, I love you

Last night, when S.H.E emerged from a corolla 6 stories high and looked down at their 10,000 fans in Taipei Area, they truly established their position as the Mandarin music industry's "Heavenly Queen Group", and Selina's boyfriend shouting "Wife, I love you" was definitely the climax of the evening.

These three people have grown up, become sexy, but the affection and chemistry between them are proof that in their little universe, their harmonious relationship has not changed at all in the past 9 years.

Last night, among the guests was a special Mr. Zhang Cheng Zhong. He is Selina's boyfriend and during the second encore, he suddenly came up, holding a note that was moist from sweat and looking towards the stage he said, "I hope that S.H.E will not have to stop singing because of me," then following that he shouted, "Wife, I love you!" Selina was so shocked she started crying, then yelled, "Mom!", causing lots of cheering from the audience below.

Twilight star Kristen Stewart gets soaked with co-star Taylor Lautner

Kristen Stewart ended up soaking wet after refusing to wear a protective mac during a jet boat ride – proving that trying to look cool doesn’t always pay.

She might have avoided being snapped in a baggy red jacket, but as a result the actress left the ride looking like a drowned rat.

But that seemed to be her plan, as she reportedly told the driver to allow ‘more water’ into the boat after loving the ‘hardcore’ action ride.

Bret Michaels to Replace Simon Cowell?

Rocker Bret Michaels is reportedly one of the potential candidates to replace former 'American Idol' judge Simon Cowell, according to TMZ.

Michaels himself broke the news Friday evening during a concert in Biloxi, MS. "I can't say this is true yet, 'cause I don't know. Next year they asked me to possibly be the judge on 'American Idol," he said, before launching into the Poison classic 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn.'

A rep for FOX had no comment.

The news caps off an exciting week for Michaels, who on Friday performed his first concert since he was hospitalized in April after suffering a brain hemorrhage. Last Sunday, Michaels was on hand for the live 'Celebrity Apprentice' finale, during which he was ultimately crowned the winner.

On Wednesday, Michaels performed a surprise duet with third-place finisher Casey James during the two-hour 'American Idol' finale.

Michaels' reality series, 'Bret Michaels: Life as We Know It,' premieres Mon., May 31 at 10PM on VH1.

Huang Xiao Ming: Angelababy's Great, Their dating days did not include a Love Triangle

Huang Xiao Ming and Angelababy are rumored to be passionately dating. Earlier, Xiao Ming had invited Angelababy as the MV female lead for a new song, and in Beijing, and the duo were spotted catching supper together before returning home late at night; even when he was in Hong Kong to attend film events, they would meet a day early for a secret meeting. Yesterday, Xiao Ming publicly showed his appreciation for her, and too mentioned that after getting to know her, she is great! He also clearly remembers the day they met each other, displaying their growing relationship.

Afraid of paparazzi therefore avoiding unnecessary meetups

Xiao Ming and Angelababy repeatedly denied dating, however, with reference to the previous incident on the Air show, a magazine cover, caused Xiao Ming to be a constant gossip victim. Here to advertise his new film yesterday, Xiao Ming expressed that he would only be in town for two days. When asked if he had a date with Angelababy, he replied, "Want to date, but afraid of paparazzi, therefore may not meet."

Watched a film once but never gone home together

Xiao Ming said that while he was not used to being interrupted, he appreciated the work of the media, hoping for mercy, with no exaggerated news. Reported that he and Angelababy had being secretly dating for two years, it involved a love triangle with William Chan where William harboured illusions before giving her up. When asked to what extend their relationship had reached, Xiao Ming replied with a laugh, "What extend? Catching a film together; yes. Going home together; no."

DoJ extends Apple antitrust probe to other forms of media beyond music

The U.S. Department of Justice’s investigation of Apple’s alleged anti-competitive practices has grown to include video and other forms of multimedia, the New York Post is reporting. Citing multiple sources, the Post claims that the DoJ has queried several major media companies asking whether or not they feel Apple is in a position of undue influence over their products. A similar investigation focusing on Apple’s dominance in digital music was said to have commenced earlier this week. Whether or not this will eventually lead to a full-blown antitrust lawsuit being slapped against Apple is unclear, but it seems logical that if anyone is going want to do battle with Apple it’s the tough-talking Hollywood folk. As one of the Post’s insiders said, “you can’t dictate terms to the industry.” Trust us, we know.

Android Fanboys Have Arrived. And That’s A Good Thing

By now, just about everyone on the planet has heard the term “Apple Fanboy.” If you’ve ever said anything good about an Apple product, you’ve likely been called one. But a new class of fanboy has emerged — one that, amazingly, may be be equally as passionate. The Android Fanboy. And it’s actually a good thing.

In case you missed my review of the new HTC EVO 4G phone yesterday, be sure to read some of the comments. As stated, I was coming at it from the perspective of a dedicated iPhone user. Long story short, I don’t really like the device. To the Android lovers, I might as well have killed Bambi.

Never mind the good things I said about the phone, or Android in particular. Never mind that I said that if you’re looking for an Android phone, try the Nexus One or Droid Incredible, because they’re both better devices. Never mind that almost none of the commenters had actually ever used the EVO (it’s not out yet), and plenty of them even admitted that. None of that matters. All that matters is that I said something bad about an Android device. RAGE!

In the Android Fanboys’ minds, I had just slandered the latest reincarnation of their savior. They had to respond. And they did. Hundreds of them. It was quite impressive.

Though viewed as a non-mainstream piece, it has attracted a group of big names to take part, including Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi and award-winning cinematographer Christopher Doyle.

Dennis Hopper Dies at 74

Dennis Hopper, whose pot-addled Billy in Easy Rider and psychopathic Frank Booth in Blue Velvet helped put the icon in iconoclastic, has died after a decade-long battle with prostate cancer. He was 74.

The legendary actor died about 9 a.m. Saturday surrounded by family in his Los Angeles home.

Taken ill with flu-like symptoms last September, Hopper later said he was suffering with prostate cancer. Family members told PEOPLE that the disease had spread to other organs in his system.

Early Rebel Role

Born in Dodge City, Kansas – his father, Jay Hopper, reputedly was an intelligence officer in the pre-CIA Office of Strategic Services, which explained his son's peripatetic American upbringing – Hopper was 19 when he was cast in his very first movie opposite none other than James Dean: 1955's Rebel Without a Cause. Hopper played a character named "Goon."

Really, Kristen Stewart?!? Actress Compares Paparazzi to Rapists

Look, Kristen Stewart. It's refreshing to find a humble celebrity that doesn't desire fame or attention. We understand you feel that way.

But show business has also provided you with millions of dollars, the chance to make a living out of your dream and a gorgeous boyfriend. You simply must calm down a bit.

This message needs to be said because the Twilight Saga actress has gone a step too far her in anti-fame agenda. In a new interview, she compares the experience of being photographed to a rape. Yes, a rape:

Upcoming iPhone display practically confirmed to be double resolution

You've seen it in San Jose, you've seen plenty of it in Vietnam, and now, apparently, you're seeing the iPhone 4G display waving at you from the center of Europe, namely the Czech Republic. We haven't been able to corroborate that these fellas do indeed have a legitimate next-gen iPhone part in their paws, but hey, that's what they claim. The guys from superiphone.cz have gone above and beyond the leaker's call of duty, by taking the supposed next-gen screen under a microscope and figuring out its pixel density and display technology. According to them, the new iPhone will sport an IPS panel, much like the other handheld device Apple introduced this year, with a cool 960 x 640 resolution. This quadruples the total number of pixels from the iPhone 3GS -- making rescaling of current apps a straightforward affair -- while also giving Apple the right to claim the highest pixel density yet seen on a phone. You'll find similarly zoomed-in pics of the Nexus One and iPod touch screens at the source, and the answers to all your iPhone-related questions at WWDC in a few days' time.

  • Enhanced call quality indicator.
  • Improved start-up time.
  • Fast access to the dial pad from iPhone home screen.

An iPhone Lover’s Take On The HTC EVO 4G

Back in January, I wrote a post entitled An iPhone Lover’s Take On The Nexus One. At the time, the Nexus One was soon to be released as the latest and greatest Android phone, and a number of iPhone users were wondering whether it was worth it to switch for the benefits of Android (and perhaps more importantly, another network besides AT&T). My take: it was the best Android phone yet, but it wasn’t better than the iPhone. Now I’m going to do the same type of review for the new HTC EVO 4G phone, which Sprint is launching next week.

At Google I/O, the search giant gave the phone away to every attendee complete with one month of service to try it out. Just as with the Nexus One, I’ve decided to use it as my primary phone for the past week or so to get a real sense of the pluses and minuses of the device. Just as with my Nexus One review, this isn’t meant to be an all-encompassing review or roundup. Instead, this is just my reaction to the device as an iPhone user.

Dell Streak's Gorilla Glass screen: torture tested for your amusement (video)

So we've been hearing rumors about the Dell Streak being some kind of a rugged bad boy. Word is, the Gorilla Glass display on this 5-inch slate is good enough to withstand pretty much anything a human would care to throw its way. Them's fighting words where we come from, so we did the only thing a responsible tech blog can do -- we put them to the test. Should you be brave enough to follow us after the break, you'll come upon our best efforts to destroy our own Streak prototype, albeit with little success. Then again, the end result might be less important than the journey there, which is not to be missed.

American Idol‘s Top 10 Get Their Game On For the Summer Tour

While American Idol winner Lee DeWyze and runner-up Crystal Bowersox bask in Season Nine’s finale afterglow, the remaining Top Eight Idols are enjoying a breather before a 51-city American Idols Live! Tour, which kicks off in Auburn Hills, Mich, July 1.

At a celebratory dinner at Gordon Ramsay at the London in West Hollywood, PEOPLE joined Didi Benami, Andrew Garcia, Katie Stevens, Tim Urban, Siobhan Magnus, Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynche and Casey James to talk about the three-month road trip.

“Seeing America is going to be amazing,” says Lynche. “It’s going to be cool to see everybody’s hometown and I hope we have a chance to go see somebody’s haunts.” Adds Benami, “And seeing all of the people who have been supporting us the whole time. I am really looking forward to playing for all the fans that voted and getting the reaction we didn’t get in the studio.”

On a technical point, James says, “I’m looking forward to playing full songs! That’s really exciting for me because chopping songs into one and a half minutes takes the soul out of the songs.”

Another day, another fashion disaster as Britney Spears dons see-through dress, Ugg boots and trilby

Only Britney Spears is capable of taking several fashion no-no's and rolling them into the one outfit.

The singer, notorious for blatantly shunning the advice of stylists, revealed another display of her poor fashion sense today when she stepped out in a see-through nightie-style dress, trilby hat and ugg boots.

To make matters worse, she unwisely chose bright red underwear which could clearly be seen through the poorly-fitting dress.

Windows XP SP2 retirement looms, puts users in tough spot

Half of all corporate PCs running XP stuck on soon-to-be-obsolete SP2

Half of the enterprise computers running the aged Windows XP operating system are still relying on the soon-to-be-retired Service Pack 2 (SP2), a researcher said today.

According to security risk and compliance management provider Qualys, 50% of the several hundred thousand PCs it monitors for its clients are still running Windows XP SP2.

"The normal thing for IT is not to muck around with something that works," said Wolfgang Kandek, chief technology officer for Qualys, as he tried to explain why corporations have stuck with 2004's SP2 and not updated to SP3, which debuted two years ago.

Microsoft will officially retire Windows XP SP2 on July 13. After that date, although it will continue to provide security updates for XP SP3, it will stop issuing patches for the older SP2.

"I would expect that come August, SP2 will be getting hard and harder to defend," said Kandek, referring to the lack of security updates. "I expect to see reliable exploits of unpatched vulnerabilities three or four months later."

Miriam Yeung: Redo song record not because of off-tune

It was reported that when Miriam Yeung sang the high notes (this line of the lyrics: "Talks about friendship more and more") to her new song "飲酒思源" she sounded like she went off-tune. To avoid damaging her Pop Queen status, Miriam demanded to take back the song and record it again. Yesterday Miriam attended the RTHK series "毒戒" press conference and denied that she wanted to record the song again due to being off-tune. However, she does admit that her voice suddenly became sharper and felt that the emotions could be expressed better, so it would be best to record the song again.

When asked about wanting to record her song again due to being off-tune? Miriam said: "Recording the song over again due to being off-tune is something impossible. With the current high technology, a little off-tune is not a problem, 2 seconds off can be easily fixed. The producer requested that I go that high when I sing that part of the song and that I should sound sharper. If he discovers that I went off-tune he will immediately request me to sing it again. How can an off-tune piece be released? You think the 30 people who listened to the song before its release has hearing problems? People shouldn't exaggerate so much." However, Miriam does admit she could express her emotions better and can record the song again. She said: "When I was recording, I experienced asthma issues which affected my breathing while I sang. The song released to play on the radio stations is just a demo, it cannot be placed on the actual CD. It's just like acting, when the expressions aren't done well or dialogue isn't said well, then you can NG a few more times. This is normal in music production as well." Miriam denied that she wanted to take the song back and said some people felt the first version was better, can just air the first one. Even her husband Real Ting felt that her first version was good.

Google not in top 1000 websites

People were quick to point out that Facebook was the #1 website in Google’s list of the top 1000. That’s great, but where is Google in the list? They are either not as popular as we once thought, or they omitted themselves from the list. I’ll leave you to decide which one is more likely.

Google has no problem publishing website statistics for every popular website on the internet though their AdPlanner service — but they refuse to publish their own information for “competitive reasons”. Doesn’t this seem a bit shady to you? If you owned one of these websites, and you wanted to keep your web stats private for some reason, you’d be out of luck.

Google should put themselves on this list — I think it’s only fair that they allow people to view statistics about Google web properties through their own AdPlanner service if they are going to reveal everyone else’s information without asking.

'Idol' winner Lee DeWyze: 'I'm free to do what I want now'

The paint-store clerk from Mount Prospect, Ill., was at a loss for words when he learned that he'd won the ninth American Idol title. But in a conference call on Friday, Lee DeWyze had plenty to say.

Q: What do you feel America saw in you and kept viewers voting?

A: In the beginning, I was more reserved. But I'm a real guy, off the camera and on. I wanted the show to be about me and about my music. And I think that people saw that I can connect with an audience. I know what it's like to be starting out and having a goal and trying to reach it. I connected with every song the best I could and the audience.

Miley Cyrus on Glee: ‘Honestly, Musicals?’

MILEY Cyrus hates the hit US TV show Glee — because it’s not very realistic!

The Hannah Montana star says she can’t understand why the program is so popular.

“Honestly, musicals? I just can’t,” the mouthy 17-year-old told Billboard magazine.

“What if this was real life and I was just walking down the street on Rodeo Drive and all of a sudden I just burst into song about how much I love shoes?”

Insiders recently expressed their fears that Miley — who was left red-faced earlier this month when a video hit the internet of her grinding with a 40-plus-year-old man — will go down the same destructive path as Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan.

“Everyone in Hollywood is worried that Miley is on the path to becoming the next Lindsay Lohan,” said one prominent Hollywood casting agent.

“It’s the oldest story in showbiz — when a child star grows up and loses his or her entire fan base.

“For every Jodie Foster that exists, so does a Gary Coleman.”

What should Ballmer do with Zune?

After spending the last few years focusing on building a credible search engine and fixing Windows, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is now turning his eye, Sauron-like, toward Microsoft's consumer products.

On Tuesday, Microsoft announced that two longtime leaders in its Entertainment and Devices Division, President Robbie Bach and Chief Technical Officer J Allard, are stepping down. Although both executives are best known as the public faces of the Xbox, they also bear some responsibility for the Zune, Microsoft's portable media player and associated software and services. Bach was assigned to fix Microsoft's digital-media strategy in the mid-2000s, and he helped launch Microsoft into the MP3 player business and spike the partner-driven PlaysForSure program. Allard's team helped design and launch the original device.

Ballmer's first priority will be reversing Microsoft's market-share slide in mobile-phone platforms and coming up with an answer to the iPad and other portable computers that run a competitor's mobile OS. But he's also got an opportunity to clean up after another missed opportunity in digital media. Here are some suggestions that can help turn Zune from a punch line into an asset.

Apple iPad offers “freedom from porn” – but not in Berlin

Apple’s Steve Jobs famously offered us “freedom from porn” in his ongoing war with Adobe Flash on the iPhone and iPad. But notoriously liberal Berlin has a different take on the matter, perhaps offering us freedom from being told what to do by Apple…

Billboards announcing the arrival of the iPad on Friday have been going up all over Berlin, but one of them in the subway station of Rosenthaler Platz is quite different to the rest. As you can see from the images below, the iPad appears to be about to offer an entirely new experience of porn.

But, to be serious for a moment, as far as we can tell the images are not stuck over an existing iPad billboard but have in fact been entirely created by “ad busters” having a little fun with the Apple campaign…

Recently married Daniel Wu was asked about whether or not marriage will affect the types of movies he will choose to appear in. Daniel explained that there will be no difference for him between choosing roles before and after being married - he will continue to film the types of movies he likes and wants to film which is most important to him.
