Bret Michaels Leaves Hospital, "100 Percent Recovery" Expected

Bret Michaels is almost ready to rock again.

The Poison frontman has left the hospital and is expected to "make a 100% recovery," his neurosurgeon Dr. Joseph Zabramski said in a press conference Tuesday.

After suffering a subarachnoid (brain-stem) hemorrhage April 21, the 47-year-old musician had been recovering at Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz.

Zabramski added that Michaels' condition will resolve in "about seven to days," after which the singer "will really be able to feel like he's on the mend and can resume all of his activities."

Although Michaels' ordeal was compounded by several factors -- an emergency appendectomy earlier in April, his lifelong struggle with Type 1 diabetes, and a seizure-causing side-effect -- it could have been a lot worse. "He's just one of those lucky people," the doctor said, explaining that only 10 to 20% of hemorrhage sufferers fully recover.

Zabramski clarified, however, that Michaels is "still very sick right now...What I made him promise me is that he would make no promises."

(An April 30 statement on Michaels' website stated that the rocker could resume his tour as early as May 26 with a performance in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, "provided there are no further complications or setbacks.")

Could Michaels have avoided the whole episode? "There is nothing you can do to prevent this from happening," Zabramski said. "Everyone in this room has the same risk that he did."

Now single, the singer has two daughters with ex Kristi Gibson: Raine, 9 and Jorja, 4. "His daughters are No. 1 to him, then music, then the ladies," Rock of Love alum Brandi Mahon tells Us.
