Singer Vivian Hsu claims career frozen for past three years

Taiwan singer-actress Vivian Hsu admitted in her micro blog that her career had been put on ice for past three years, reported Hong Kong media.

"Because I am 'Iron V (Vivian)', keeping me in deep freeze is useless. I can fly elsewhere to sing," Hsu said in a post dated August 28.

The singer-actress, who had recently devoted much of her time to developing her music career in Japan, went on to explain why she decided to have her say in further posts on the matter.

"I just ... wanted to answer all my fans who have asked why I have not released a Mandarin album, to give them an honest answer. I am not afraid of evil forces as I am Iron V and believe in justice.

"I don't want to make enemies of anyone. Heaven will be able to see who is of good character," she wrote.

The 35-year-old star, who had previously written the lyrics to various songs by Khalil Fong and Jay Chou, is believed to have made these statements as she did not get a chance to put out a single album with her former label Warner Music, before her contract expired in July this year.

Hsu signed with both Warner Music and media giant Hua Yi Brothers in 2007 amidst great fanfare and appeared to be on track to become one of the biggest stars in the Mandarin entertainment industry.

Unfortunately, Warner Music underwent some reshuffling of its senior management staff in 2008 and saw the departure of its Greater China region head honcho who had signed Hsu to the label.

Former EMI General Manager Sam Chen, the man who brought pop princess Jolin Tsai to the music label's subsidiary Capitol Records, replaced Tan and immediately signed Tsai to Warner Music when he came into the company.

Warner Music reportedly went on to pay a lot of attention to Tsai and groomed her while neglecting Hsu completely.

When contacted by the Hong Kong media for comment, Hsu's manager, Ji Shen Shan, was very diplomatic.

Ji explained that Warner Music did put in effort to develop Hsu's showbiz career, but she was very busy working on films and as a result could not put out an album before her contract expired.

Ji added that both parties had regrets in their working relationship.

"I will find time to communicate with her and avoid any misunderstandings," said Ji.
