"Bodyguards And Assassins" breaks record with 16 HK Film Award Nominations & Complete List

Yesterday "The 29th Hong Kong Film Awards" announced its nomination list. Of the 19 to be presented award categories, 16 of the 19 nominations, two nominations each in 3 of the categories went to "Bodyguards And Assassins". This broke last year's "Red Cliff" 15 nominations record, making it the film with the most nominations of the year. This year "Red Cliff II" won 13 nominations. It looks like Wang Xuequ and Sean Lau will be fighting for the Film King Best Actor award, while Kara Hui and Zhang Jingchu are fiercely battling for Film Queen Best Actress. As for won 16 of the 19 nominations and 2 nominations in 3 award categories, the producer Peter Chan expressed his happiness and honor.
Kara Hui will be depending on her role in "At the End of Daybreak" for the Film Queen award, even her acting has won approval by the insiders. Earlier she won two awards including the Golden Horse "Best Supporting Actress" and the Film Actress awarded by the Film Critics Society. Looks like her chances are especially high, she expressed that she's happy and frankly said that she really does hope to get it because this is her first time regarded as Queen in 30 years. If she does get it, it will make her year even more perfect. She said: "This is one of my wishes, the value is higher than the award. Being part of the finalist is already happy enough because the opportunities of having the status as the female lead is getting less and less." Does she have confidence for the award? She felt that Vicki Zhao from "Mulan" has the greatest chance because Vicki's acting is really good!
Sean Lau and Wang Xuequ are the hottest picks for the Film King award this year. Sean thanked everyone's support and when asked if he had confidence? He expressed: "I hope so because this year's opponents are very strong. I am not nervous because this is not the first time I'm nominated, just feeling normal."
Because Simon Yam have two films in the nomination, he is worried about affecting the votes, but he has complete confidence, he said: "Both productions are very different from one another, I am very happy that the critics liked it, I am honored and hope that I can win with the female lead Sandra Ng."
Aaron Kwok depends on "Murderer" to enter the nominations, he is rather conservative towards the battle: "As an actor using all your heart to portray a role and getting nominated for it is the greatest encouragement and proof. I think all critics for giving me the opportunity. Whether or not I get the award is not important anymore. Also the other nominees are also very experienced, so whoever wins I am happy for and is worth the encouragement."
